LYSTERFIELD CRICKET CLUB
CODE OF CONDUCT
The image and reputation of any club are vital to its ongoing success and reflects the Club’s standing in the community and the cricket world.
Our “Code Of Conduct” sets the standard of conduct required of our Club’s members and officials, as representatives of the Lysterfield Cricket Club Inc.
Club members and officials are expected to abide by our “Code Of Conduct”.
As a member or official of the Lysterfield Cricket Club Inc your conduct while representing the club in any capacity (ie before, during and after a match or training and at social functions) must meet the standards set out below.
The standards are guidelines only and the leadership group or the Senior Committee have the right to charge a member or official for conduct that they believe is outside the spirit of these guidelines, whether it is explicitly covered in the “Code Of Conduct” or not.
THE CLUB RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE A CLEARANCE FOR ANY PLAYING MEMBER
WHO IS UNDER CLUB SUSPENSION OR HAS OUTSTANDING MONIES DUE TO THE CLUB.
CLUB STANDARDS
RESPECT
Treat all umpires with courtesy. Accept decisions without dissent and honestly assist the umpires in the making of difficult decisions.
Only captains my politely and briefly discuss any concerns with umpiring decisions.
Verbal and physical abuse is never acceptable.
Respect the rights and dignity of opponents and team mates regardless of their ability, cultural background or religion.
Have respect for the rules of the game. Be honest and set an example for younger players and members of the club.
Respect the clubrooms. Keep the rooms and facilities tidy for the benefit of all guests and members. Discard all litter appropriately. Smoking is prohibited within the club rooms.
Support your committee – do not wait to be asked for help.
TRAINING & MATCHDAY
If you are unable to attend training or matches, notify your captain or a member of the leadership group.
All players are expected to wear a white top and dark shorts/pants to training and must wear club cap and playing shirt at matches.
If you have any concerns with team selection which you feel requires an explanation, please approach the Chairman of selectors.
Arrive at games on time and assist your captain with set-up and match-day activities.
Provide encouragement to your team mates, both at training and during matches.
Work equally hard for yourself and your team mates. Your Team’s performance will benefit, so will you.
Have confidence in your captain. Accept and support decisions made by your captain.
BEHAVIOUR

Control personal alcohol consumption and ensure that appropriate measures are taken when leaving the club if you believe you are over the legal limit.
Be careful with any comments made on electronic media forums. Although they may be private comments, they become available for public view as soon as they are posted. Do not verbally slander the club, opposition or the association.
Treat all club members, opposition, officials, sponsors and guests with respect. Be proud of the club and its history.
In addition, players must abide by the standards of conduct and code of behaviour as stated in the FTGDCA senior rulebook (sections 3.5 & 3.6)
PARENTS AND SPECTATORS
Applaud good play and sportsmanship by both teams
Encourage children to always participate according to the rules
Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake
If you disagree with an official, raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than questioning the official’s judgement in public
Recognise the value and importance of volunteer coaches and officials
Control your temper. Don’t encourage or participate in violent or abusive behaviour. Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, coaches, officials or players
Please respect and abide by the club’s Code of Conduct and ensure your children understand their responsibilities
Support your club and enjoy the game
Please note that the consumption of alcohol during Junior cricket matches is forbidden
Any breach of the code of conduct may result in an inquiry with the potential for the imposition of penalties including fines, suspension or both. Reports can be made by a Captain, a member of the leadership group or a member of the Lysterfield Cricket Club Committee.
Any grievances from other club members towards the club or members of the club must be submitted in writing either to the Club President or an appropriate committee member.
Sole discretion for penalties lies with the committee of the Lysterfield Cricket Club.
