Round 8 v Eildon Park at Home

The Firsts hosted Eildon Park in the local derby, and? day one was an excellent day for cricket.? We won the toss and? decided to bat first hoping to make the most of the good conditions and post a big score.? Unfortunately our poor form with the bat continued with too many of our batsmen failing to consolidate on good starts.? Tyden Latty (18), Chris Hill (13), Shannon Whitty (14), Matt Dempsey (18), and? Steve Finch (19) all got starts but not one of us went on to make a big score which cost us dearly.? Dave Smith top scored with 20 (leg byes were equal top with 20), and we were bowled out for 155 which was going to be tough to? defend.? At the end of day one, Eildon Park had made their way to 0/50 which put us in a very tough position.? The weather on day two was terrible, great for the firefighters but not so good for us.? The ground was very wet making bowling and fielding difficult, and after a few chances went down Eildon Park took the points finishing at 3/184 before rain stopped any more play.

Again it was the fact that we didn't put enough runs on the board which cost us the game, and our top order now really need to dig in and work extra hard in the the middle if we are to remain competitive at this level.? We all need to put in a massive effort now in the last few games to restore? some pride in our team and show everyone what we are capable of doing
