title row - ball  Round 4 Senior Report (Wk 1)

1sts Vs The Basin at The Basin - On what was a beautiful day for cricket The Basin won the toss and decided to have a bat.? We got off to a great start and had them reeling at 3/15 after Demo snagged a few early ones.? The wickets? included a ripper catch from Tim Binks at slip and Tim Emmett held on to a very hot chance at mid wicket.? Burdo bowled superbly and kept the pressure on from the other end, and was rewarded with a great LBW wicket after totally deceiving a batsman with his deadly slower ball.? The Basin got a couple of parternships together, but our bowlers kept bowling in the right areas and kept the pressure on.? Chris Hill and Binksy bowled well without luck, a highlight of the day was a sensational one handed caught and bowled from Hilly.? Demo got another caught and bowled for his fourth wicket.? The left arm spin twins of Tim Emmett and Sean Alston then got their chance and didn't dissapoint.? ? Timmy lived up to his reputation of the partership killer by dismissing The Basin's top scorer just before tea.? He finished with the great figures of 3/10 from 8 overs.? Sean gave great support from the other end and finished with two wickets.? Rob Zsiga took a great caught behind off the bowling of 'Captain Julio' to finish off a very tidy day with the gloves.? We dismissed? The Basin for 161 which was a great team? effort, but cricket is very much a game of ups and downs which we were soon to find out.? We had 18 overs to face to finish the day's play, and a major lapse from all our top order bats saw us finish at 7/47 which leaves us a bit of work to do this week to get over the line.? Looking at the positives, we bat all the way down, and if the guys left to come can dig in it will make next week very interesting.? The game is never over until the last ball is bowled, at Lysterfield we never say die......

2nds Vs The Basin at Home - After losing the toss The Basin decided to have a bat which suited us fine? as we were going to bowl anyway because of our strong bowling line-up.? ? Dave Smith opened down the hill with Stumpy coming up the hill.? Their openers got away to a good start, although they were a little lucky with a number of shots played in the air just falling short of fielders.? Stumpy got the first break through in the 14th over after he got an outside edge which carried to Burgo at 2nd slip - 1/42.? Stumpy had another his next over, caught a mid off but committed the cardinal sin of bowling a no ball.? Then? the ever reliable Buckers was bought into the attack down the hill and? bowled a magnificent spell of fast bowling.? ? First wicket caught behind 2/45, caught at short mid on by Tim Parker 3/57, caught and bowled 4/64, LBW next ball 5/64? and on a hat trick - but unfortunately no cigar.? Caught behind again by Wokka 6/68 and finally another LBW 7/71.? ? Buckers final figures 12 overs, 5 maidens 6/22 - superb effort mate.? Tyson Jones was bought on for his first bowl in 2nds cricket just before tea and did the job getting a wicket caught at mid off in his second over - 8/84.? At tea The Basin were? 8/90.? Dave Smith opened up after tea and got himself a wicket - bowled 9/108 and the innings was finished off at 114 when Stumpy completed a direct hit run out at the bowlers end.? Although Burgo didn't get a wicket he bowled 10 superb overs and beat the bat at least a dozen times.? Of his 10 overs he bowled 8 maidens and only conceded 6 runs.? Set 115 for victory Wokka and Tim Parker opened and played superbly until TP was poorly judged LBW off a very thick inside edge for a well put together 32.? Wokka and TP put together an opening partnership of 72 runs.? Shannon Whitty looked good but was dismissed LBW for 4 and at the end of the day's play we finished at 2/94, only needing 21 for victory with Wokka not out on 48.? ? Great team? effort guys and sensational bowling Buckers.

3rds Vs Eildon Park at Eildon Park - After winning the toss and electing to bat we went to the crease looking for a score of 200 plus. Phil Thiel & Deano Morris opened the innings & with the score on 3, lost Thiely caught behind for 2. This brought Moods to the crease for his long awaited return. After almost falling first ball, Moodsy's form soon returned and he went on to score 51 in a partnership of 64 with Deano before he went...bowled. Patto was nest up and looked good before he was stumped for 5. (3/74) Next was Ed Connor & he didn't waste any time plonking their spinner for a few 4's before settling down for tea. (3/92) Connor went just after tea, caught for 14. Sam Walsh was next up & went for a well compiled 4 (5/121) This brought Moray to the crease. Moray put on 13 before Donga finally fell for a very patient and well fought out 43. (6/134) Moray fell soon after for 6. (7/146) Griggy & Jason Matthews then smashed the bowlers all over the park. Jason was next to fall on 16. (8/177) Fletch came next and put on 14 with Griggy before falling for 2. (9/191) This was the moment everyone was waiting for... Monas after 2 ducks in a row came to the crease and was almost run out for another before scoring a run that was greeted by cheers as though he'd made a ton! Finallscore - All out for 204 off 79 overs with Griggy making a sensational 37 off 37 balls to get us there. Well done to all on a team effort.
